THE POWER OF VULNERABILITY
Hey friends, let's talk about the power of vulnerability. Some moments in life just hit differently like the day you start a new business, decide to relocate, or realize a relationship is no longer nourishing you. These are the moments that truly test us.
A Lesson from Samuel
Let's step into the sandals of Samuel for a moment. In 1 Samuel 16:1–3, God gives him a dangerous assignment: anoint a new king while the current one, Saul, is still alive. Samuel's response wasn't a blind "Yes, Lord," but an honest confession: "How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me!" 😱
This is the revered prophet, a trusted voice of God, and he's filled with fear. And what's God's response? He doesn't shame him. He doesn't say, "Man up!" or "Where's your faith?" God listens. Then, He gives direction and a strategy: "Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.'" Boom. Divine strategy. God acknowledged Samuel's fear and helped him overcome it.
So, it's perfectly okay to be vulnerable and feel fear. You can be called and still be cautious. You can be strong and still need strategy. Samuel didn't freeze; he moved with his fear, not in spite of it.
The Caveat: Choose Your Audience Wisely
Here's the crucial part: vulnerability is not a public podcast. Your fears and dreams are sacred. Samuel didn't tell everyone about his fear of Saul; he told the right person.
Not everyone is equipped or ordained to carry your vulnerability. Some people will publicize you, some will mock you, while others will simply ignore you. So, be discerning.
-
Don’t entrust your business idea to someone who has never built anything.
-
Don’t seek validation from people who’ve rejected your worth.
-
Don’t open your heart to someone who weaponizes your weakness.
The Power of Divine Strategy and Mentorship
Every new move requires divine strategy. Don't just jump in and don't copy others' strategies indiscriminately, what works for them might not work for you. God gave Samuel both a mission and a method.
Fear isn't failure; it's feedback. Listen to it, then act anyway. Your vulnerability is a private gift, best shared with the discerning. Surround yourself with those who have walked the road you're eyeing. Mentors and positive-minded peers matter.
In conclusion, it's okay to be vulnerable, but you must choose your audience. #mentalhealthmatters #Emotionalintelligence #leadership
